Projecting Hope: Our Story
How It Began
Projecting Hope began in the fall of 2000. Scott and Dawn — recently married and working at a small-town movie theater, dreamed of using the big-screen for something bigger. They believed the power of story could do more than entertain; it could inspire hearts, transform lives, and point people toward lasting hope.
Their idea was simple: show a film with a message of faith and hope, and make it free for the community. They didn’t know if anyone would come. But at that first show in DuBois, Pennsylvania, the theater filled beyond expectation — so much so that a second auditorium had to be opened.

A Family That’s Grown — 25 Years of Legacy
What started small has grown into something extraordinary — as patrons and guests have become lifelong friends, volunteers, and partners in the mission.
The Projecting Hope family now spans communities across the country — and across generations.
Many who once came as children now bring their own kids, sharing in the same joy, laughter, and moments of inspiration that first captured their hearts years ago. Together, this community has become a family.
Over the years, Projecting Hope has given away more than 150,000 free tickets 🎟️, shared countless bags of popcorn 🍿, and witnessed lives forever changed by the love of Jesus on the big screen.
Every volunteer, every sponsor, and every attendee has been part of this unfolding story.
The Story Continues
We believe there’s never been a more important time to share light in the darkness — to remind people that hope is alive, faith still matters, and the story isn’t over.
Every new city, every new screen, and every life touched is another chapter in a story only God could write.
Projecting Hope: More than a movie — it’s a movement.
